Biography
Hello and welcome to my Website.
Born in Bellshill, I graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a 2.1 BA Honours in Politics with History and Sociology.
Elected to the Parliament on 5 May 2011, I am one of 3 Scottish Labour regional MSPs for Central Scotland.
I am a longstanding member of the Labour Party and the GMB, the General Workers Union. My father, Michael McMahon, is MSP for Uddingston and Bellshill, and I have previously worked as a Labour researcher in the Scottish Parliament, and for former Scottish Secretary Jim Murphy at the Scotland Office.
My Parliamentary duties are varied: I am a member of the Parliament’s Equal Opportunities Committee, Vice-Convenor of the Cross Party Group (CPG) on ME and the Diabetes CPG, Treasurer of the International Development Group CPG, and a member of the Malawi CPG.
Outside Parliament I enjoy reading and am a keen fan of sport, something I believe everyone should have equal access to.
